G+_Rud Dog
Looking for recommendations for USB picture scanner with full page capability use with slides and hard copy photos. High resolution image adjustment. Preferably with ease of use with Mac. The All-in-one scanner we have is not getting the job done. If anyone has experience using or has owned such a scanner for pictures negatives and slide, please let me know.
G+_James Hughes
For negatives and slides you're better off using a DSLR and a lens adapter. You'll get better quality and it's much quicker.
G+_William Jacoby
I don't think it does slides, but seems like it does everything else. Epson Fastfoto FF-640. They did a segment on it on Tekthing recently:
G+_Ben Reese
William Jacoby beat me to it. That's an expensive unit, but looks like it does a great job. I could see buying one, digitizing everything around me, then selling it on ebay/Craigslist. Or, just keeping it around and scanning all the kids school papers so I don't feel quite as guilty when I toss them lol.
G+_Rud Dog
Guys that thing is incredible the down side : My wife and I let out a "WHOA" when they called out the price. Just wondering, if you do a pic at 600 dpi what is the pixel equivalent? Guessing if I do find one with slide and negative capability it will cost even more! Either way thanks, hope someone chimes in with something they have used and no arms or legs are needed for payment.
G+_Ben Reese
Rud Dog Quick Google search, I found this: sven.de - DPI Calculator / PPI Calculator/ My HTC 10 shoots 4×3 @ 12mp. So images it produces are 4,000 × 3,000 pixels. That comes out to be 1,000 ppi (dpi printed at native resolution) with a 4"×3" photo. The real problem is that nobody probably prints at that resolution. And most photo printers probably don't do better than 600 dpi so much more than that you're just blowing up ink spots.
