G+_Tim Pickering
Tom will be skyping in once they move? That sucks!

G+_Dominik Zolkos
Leo needs to pay him more to cover commuting costs.
G+_Emil “opi” Oppeln-Broni
Maybe they will figure out something better than Skype. I bet Tom could setup his own tiny studio. I think this won't last and he'll move on.
G+_Tal Amir
question is why skyping and not hangout :)
G+_Elizabeth Whitmire
The only way Skype sucks is with low bandwidth, which I don't think Tom will have in L.A. I don't think Tom's move will make any difference - great shows as ever.
G+_David Pirouet
Maybe, a VPD, (virtual presents device) can be build, like on the Big Bang Theory? thegizwiz, can supply the parts, Leo, can use up, the stuff from Skymall.
G+_Michael Westbay (Westba
Tom's audio was unusually poor on Friday's show. I was wondering what his setup there was to have such a noticeable drop in quality compared to others who Skype in to the show.
G+_Emil “opi” Oppeln-Broni
They may not have a proper connection in their new home, it sounded very 3G/HDSPA-ish.
G+_Lon Seidman
I remember Leo talking once about how they used a slingbox for one of their shows with a remote host. Maybe they'll do that for Tom.
G+_Emil “opi” Oppeln-Broni
I do, too. It's just, I don't know, strange to see core guy Skype-in. I can understand Sarha calling from France for a week but this is way different.
G+_Peter Soeth
I think they will get all the bugs worked out. Location doesn't matter much anymore.
G+_Dominik Zolkos
For me location does matter. The show is different when the whole crew is in the cave. They don't interrupt each other. Still a great show.

G+_George Sabbi
Embrace change...and its technology ..this will all be worked out...a need for an actual physical presence of a person on a show is overrated!
G+_Tom Paladino
I'm having flashbacks to when Molly left BOL and they tried conferencing Natali in from NY. There's just something missing when everyone isn't in the same room together. Solution: Hire Jeff Cannata (he's local) and let Tom Merritt and him do the show from LA! G+_Ken Fromchicago
Tom Paladino But Tom Merritt has an extensive history in radio and is very skilled and experienced in reporting "on location". If there's anyone who wants this to work it's him. Fortunately, he also has Leo Laporte and Jason Howell, on backend side, not to mention Sarah Lane and iyaz akhtar, on the frontend side, working hard to make this work as plus. Bonus: They have us in the audience to offers ... alerts ... for any rough patches that need smoothing out. #TWiTFansFTW
G+_Tom Paladino
Not to be too critical (because I love the show!) but there are a little too many "rough patches" in my opinion. Introducing another one like a remote full-time host is not the best idea. I'm hoping for the best though...
G+_Tom Merritt
What kind of rough patches? Always looking to improve. I'm thinking of it along the lines of every other show on the network except for iPad Today and Know How.

G+_Ken Fromchicago
Tom Merritt Rough patches? Anything that makes it harder to enjoy #TechNewsToday , such as: Upward-angled cameras (raise camera base), cyloning (unplug & replug), distracting backgrounds (giant Commodore 64 box placed behind you), excessive [Red Fruit] rumors (increase to the "proper" amount of Google rumors--and RIM rumors); illogical statements (iyaz akhtar #WellActually 's you), etc.

G+_Tom Merritt
Ken Fromchicago I'll have a professionally lighted one-person set with an HV-30 on a tripod and a brick fireplace background with backlight.
