G+_Ben Reese
I've been using the YouTube Video Editor lately because it's free and easy. Then I've used Blender when I need to do a bit more. Also free, but not as easy.

G+_Rud Dog
Jason Eckelstafer Will down load and see if I can get it going. Question: Is this pretty much common: Get your app working! An app you tried to use needs .NET Framework 4.6 in order to run. The best version to use is .NET Framework 4.6.2, which will start downloading in 1 seconds. G+_Todd Barnard
Avidemux has some neat features. I have many MKVs that Roku doens't like the audio codec, so I can reencode the audio and not the video in several minutes. And its free.
G+_Rud Dog
Making it a point to download or read about all suggestions. Next up Avidemux?
G+_Rud Dog
Todd Barnard did you run in to this problem during your initial running of the program. Recommended by site where download is located. Windows If it crashes after loading a video, disable openGl in preferences.
G+_Todd Barnard
No, I've had no issues with it crashing. I've thrown a number of diff codecs at it. I had it on Win7 64bit and now on Win10 64bit.
G+_Rud Dog
Do you have a preferred simple beginner level video tutorial for Avidemux ?
G+_Todd Barnard
I'm sure I just looked at Youtube at the time, it was at ver 2.5.x then. I had 2.5 and 2.6 installed at the same time on win7 bc 2.5 would let you run a segment backwards, and that was taken out in 2.6. Their fourm is here, http://avidemux.org/smif/ You might look there! G+_Rud Dog
Todd Barnard Thank you on my way. BTW looked up before asking you for your thoughts on good videos as in searching for videos found they had either audio problems or really hard to follow instructions thanks again for your recommendation. G+_James Hughes
I use iMovie (obviously Mac only and only free when you buy your computer from them). I downloaded Davinci Resolve which I think is cross platform and free.
G+_Fabian Gurrola
Editing or encoding? I use premier and I use handbrake.
G+_Rud Dog
Fabian Gurrola Looking for some testimonials for premier first glance they appear to have different versions. Found Premiere CS5 then had to ask myself how much difference is there between PCS5 and other versions? Oh and on pet peeve I have is monthly fee based services and software. For me using it when the video editing bug hits well lets just say would not get my monetary value from this method. Thanks enjoy reviewing all suggestions. G+_Fabian Gurrola
I use premier because I'm used to the whole Adobe suite, but if I was on a Mac I'd probably just use their software to edit.
G+_Rud Dog
Giving Camtasia a learning shot see if I can get something made with out to much effort. This will be the key to learning more advanced features while still being able to create simple videos.
G+_Rud Dog
The more I use camtasia the more it is becoming clear it is the one found to be EZ to use. Now if I can get past the 200.00 dollar price tag. Hate it when my mind echoes "Take my money". Thanks you all for your suggestions.
G+_Jason Eckelstafer
Yeah. It's not the cheapest but it's pretty full featured and no monthly subscription cost. We use it for all of our training material at work so I didn't have to pay the license cost :)
G+_Rud Dog
Jason Eckelstafer It would be nice if there was a course offering training and discounted or included software. One thing is for sure finding it easy to use and liking it more and more as I play around with it.
G+_Midwest Concert Video
I use Edius by Grass Valley. It's not for everyone, but it is perfect for my needs. I shoot concerts with 8 1080i cameras, a mixture of different types - a big Canon XH-A1 that records to Adobe OnLocation in AVC-HD, a bunch of smaller Canon HF-S200 that record to MTS and a pair of GoPros that record to Quicktime. Edius allows me to load the raw media of these different cameras onto their own tracks on the video timeline, sync them, extract the audio from several cameras to separate audio timeline tracks, and then go into "Multicam mode" and view a split screen of all 8 cameras and a preview and select cameras as it plays so switch the show live. And I can do this on a 2011 i5 laptop.
G+_Rud Dog
Midwest Concert Video This appears to be a great video editing package. Wish I could afford it. Thank you again for your input.
G+_Midwest Concert Video
They have a student version that does everything. B&H sells it for $170 and loads of people report that they didn't have to actually provide an ID. It gets you the current version and all the updates up to the next full release. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1168763-REG/grass_valley_646733_edius_pro_8_education.html
