Labview.

 

Ran across a project where Labview was used in conjunction with the Raspberry Pi3 and it got my attention.

However It would be nice to find a video, which I am currently searching for, demonstrating the basic setup of the hardware connection and needed software install. The ones found so far are just beyond this part of the setup.

 

P.S.

Even an open source equivalent would be great.

For those wondering, LabVIEW is used to help automate interactions between sensors, controllers, and devices, with a focus on "engineering" projects. (I use quotes because the maker is the heart of the engineer, in my mind. The product seems to market itself to professionals, but isn't limited so.)

 

I found an instructable with YouTube links for segments of the project.

 

Also, it looks like your set up a pi with Raspbian, and get it on the network. Install LabVIEW in your PC, which has a module to remote into the pi and set up its hooks and whatnot on top of Raspbian.

Will O'Meara Ideas on the difference between Standard and Home edition, other then price?

If you have access to student or teacher edition of labview they sell those at great price.

Another gray use I found for PI this week similar to labview was using it as SCAD allowing it to serve webpage with interface to control PLC controllers anything on modbus, etc. smarthouse.cloud - www.smarthouse.cloud

Rud Dog I have not used the home edition before but it seems like it does not include support for national instruments hardware or integration with the Arduino compiler.
