G+_Rud Dog
If anyone can read my router log would like to know why it is rebooting every now and again. Will send you a link to the file or post it here just let me know. RT-AC87u from Asus
G+_Stephen Hart
How hot is it getting? Is there good airflow under it?
G+_Rud Dog
Stephen, it is on a shelf front facing open on front side and back side. Can place a fan on it to see if what you are thinking is the problem. Will do that now. Thanks. More to come.

G+_Juscelino Acevedo
Rud Dog unfortunately, I am not going to be very helpful. After some research, either a firmware upgrade helps or you have a "lemon". Even Asus support was telling some people to return it.
G+_Rud Dog
Juscelino Acevedo Thank you, after hearing all the hype when it first came out thought I was getting the best of the best. Guess all that tells me is to wait a year or so before purchasing. Based on possibly returning it will start the long process as an avenue of return. Again Thank you. G+_Juscelino Acevedo
Rud Dog I know people will disagree with the following, to a certain extent, but I no longer recommend "regular" wireless after MANY bad experiences; even for residential environments. Especially since there are now affordable, "enterprise", managed systems out there. I personally started using Ubiquiti UAP-AC-LR devices, and have no regrets. Additionally, I know that Leo likes the Aero devices, which is also a great suggestion. Just my two cents.
G+_Rud Dog
Juscelino Acevedo took a peek at the Ubiquiti UAP-AC-LR and was wondering it that an addition to existing router/wifi hardware or a standalone router?
G+_Juscelino Acevedo
I am sorry that I was not clear. Those are standalone wireless access points with built-in management for multiple devices to work together. You must have some type of basic router, plus a switch to plug them into. Let me give you an example of how they are deployed in my condo, where I do not have network jacks anywhere. Also keep in mind that I am an I.T. professional, but I am here to help. Basement - Internet connection comes into my cable modem. Cable modem connects to my firewall (this is not important - just letting you know my setup). Firewall connects to my gigabit switch. (You can connect directly from your cable modem to the gigabit switch.) Basement Ubiquiti connects to the gigabit switch. Second floor - This is the part where I had to get creative because I do not have network ports anywhere in the condo. Bought two gigabit rated powerline adapters. My basement powerline adapter connects to my gigabit switch and the second floor Ubiquiti connects to the second floor powerline adapter. Does not matter where I am in my condo, it automatically determines which wireless access point has the best connection with no disconnection. Does that make sense to you? G+_Rud Dog
Yes it does thank goodness for AC lines that can be used as transmissions lines for your upstairs connection to your second wifi unit.
G+_Juscelino Acevedo
Definitely. Plus the speeds are great via the powerline.
