G+_Rud Dog
Anyone found a solution for this, running on Windows 8.1 64bit?
G+_Ben Reese
I don't know what "Greenshot" is, but apparently it's already running In command line: taskkill -f greenshot.exe
G+_Rud Dog
My apologies Ben, this is a handy little tool allowing you to take screen shots, the real feature is you can crop before you snap. Have been using it since Padre recommended it. When I hit the "printscreen" key it no longer functions and pops up with this error. Tried re-installing to no avail. G+_Jason Eckelstafer
check your startup to make sure you don't have two versions running. I had that happen at the last upgrade but I'm on Windows 10. msconfig.exe and %AppData%\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
G+_Ben Reese
Ah, ok. I guess I don't remember Padre mentioning it. Windows Snipping tool will let you do the same, btw. I've used other screenshot applications in the past and have had similar issues. Usually the only resolution is to kill and re-open the program. Or, worse, uninstall and reinstall. Sorry I can't be more help in this case. And my appologies, that command should have been "taskkill /F /IM greenshot.exe" Another option would be to end the process in Task Manager. G+_Rud Dog
Killed it and re-installed twice gonna take a look at msconfig.exe suggested by Jason Eckelstafer (BTW. thanks).
G+_Rud Dog
Jason Eckelstafer opened msconfig and to no avail tried disabling and running still the same error. Guess it is a known problem as there are a few posts concerning the problem and of all the suggestions none fixes the problem. Will be moving on to snippingtool as suggested by Ben Reese. Odd that is has been working for so long and now it just started failing? Thanks for your input guys.
G+_David Wiggins
Rud Dog?. I swear by snipping tool. I use it for system documentation, project logs, and had to use it for a class a while back that demanded screenshots every micro step. It's amazing. G+_Rud Dog
The one thing I love about greenshot is when you press printscreen key it pops up ready to copy or crop straight away.
G+_Ben Reese
David Wiggins have you tried the steps recorder? It's supposed to capture every screen change and button click. I've only tried once and it recorded about 25 steps with no screenshots lol
G+_David Wiggins
Ben Reese?, I use steps recorder for some things, but it fails to grab the image whenever I'm working in the vSphere client. I get a blank rectangle with useless text like (user clicked in vsphere window 2). I suppose it expects keystrokes for the VM to not need an image. Snipping tool is manually triggered, so it doesn't care. It can be bound to prntscrn to automatic save a file. Not as automatic as psr, but works for my purposes since I'm managing virtualization hosts and such.
G+_Rud Dog
Well while trying to setup spinrite to run on my Tivo drive I managed to get the screen stating I need to run Recovery disk. Lucky for me I created the recovery disk on USB stick. Took awhile but back to where I was and with one interesting update. Fresh install of Greenshot and it is working again.
