With some services the encryption/decryption happens on the local machine before it is uploaded to the cloud. In this case you would hold the keys (btw don't lose them). If this is not the case, it is a relatively moot point. It does help if they are hacked and maybe it requires a specific warrant or something, but otherwise it doesn't really help if they are forced to provide the data.
