G+_Ben Reese
You can typically use faster or slower rated memory. It will operate at whatever is the highest speed supported by both.
G+_Jason Marsh
Some systems will require Low-Power DDR memory, some will accomodate it, and others won't run it at all. I also recently recommended crucual.com in another post here in the KH G+ page, so +1 for Brent Vrieze. That thing is awesome for checking supported memory, etc.
G+_Rud Dog
Jason Marsh Thank you all after shotgunning the question I got an answer back from Shuttle the sent this link in case anyone else is in need of this information. G+_Rud Dog
George Fromtulsa Found one for 150 dollars and all was going well on the review process when I spotted this comment by a verified purchase: Not a speed demon, but adequate in my brief tests using LibreOffice Cacl. Are you using this for media server as in Plex?
G+_George Fromtulsa
Rud Dog This YouTube review is equivalent hardware. The NUC isn't fanless, and only has a SATA drive connection, not both SATA and m2 I use mine for browsing from the couch. email. YouTube. I have all my music on the system on a SATA drive while booting from the m2. I've tried LibreOiffice, but don't use the 60" TV from couch for much work. I have used it for Darktable, the open source Linux equivalent of Adobe's Lightroom, and it processed the photos I've loaded through it to prepare to show on the TV very well. This box is for taking video from security cameras and saving it to a disk drive. Will see what I can find concerning this type of functionality. Guessing if it can handle the picture editing it might be enough for my needs.
G+_Ben Reese
Rud Dog what NVR software are you running? I installed Xpenology on an old PC and I'm planning on using DS Cam for a few cameras. I'm interested in other solutions though.
G+_Rud Dog
Ben Reese Unifi Video software really like it saddened it will not work in the DS918+. I might think about using VM then loading ubuntu but have to learn how to set it up and might need 8GB ram instead of 4GB.
G+_Ben Reese
Rud Dog nice! Does that only work with Ubiquiti cameras or does it support other ONVIF cameras too?
G+_Rud Dog
Unifi Video is written by Ubiquiti makers of the cameras and is free but don't have any other cameras other then Ubiquiti's products so don't know if it will work with other cameras. Having said that I recall seeing "ONVIF" in the drop-down menu. while setting up my cameras. I have a lot to learn about the Synology and it features time will tell.
