G+_Joe C. Hecht
Deciding what language to learn can be a difficult (and very personal) decision. Looking for the "most popular", I found the following guide to be a reasonable "pre-read" before starting your own journey: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Measuring_programming_language_popularity I Hope it helps someone. Without trying to influence, I did concur with many an opinion I read, that "C" was a best all around bet to dig into, since it is the "root" of many languages, and makes for a great springboard to languages such as C#. If I did pick "C", I would not hang around long, and would quickly jump to somthing object orientated (such as C++ or C#). Also, I would like to add that choice of C# that is currently used in Coding 101 show is a perfectly fine choice, being very close to straight "C", and having very good string handling capabilities that are sorely lacking in "C". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Measuring_programming_language_popularity
G+_Lee Crocker
As anyone who has ever watched the People's Choice Awards knows well, popularity is not a good measure of quality. :-)
