G+_Rud Dog
Newly found phenomenon. My two year Roku has always been part of my family of hardware for streaming video. The last couple of nights an odd purple screen has popped up in front of the video but allowing the audio to continue. The only way I found to rid this splash screen is to power down/up the Roky. Last night decided to remove both the USB stick and the mini SD card. Ran Defender and Malwarebytes against the USB stick that came back clean but the mini-sd card is not recognized on my computer. Will reformat on the Roku apparently that is the way to get a fresh start. While the USB and mini-sd card were out of my Roku decided to watch some video and see if this weirdness returned. I did see it for a second as it flashed on the screen along with a super quick on/off of the video but it did not stay up as it did with the two memory devices installed. I could continue to view my shows and was convinced the source might be from the memory devices. Will format the mini-sd card on the Roku and see what happens. BTW I have no unauthorized content on my LAN.
G+_Dave Schmarder
Try a different tv or change the hdmi cable. I've had this trouble too. In my case it was the hdmi cable. Hope that helps.
G+_Rud Dog
Dave Schmarder Thank you. Got the cable swap done flash on the screen of above continues but only watched for about an hour. Further testing tonight. Thinking I can hand carry the Roku to the other TV in the house.
G+_Rickbearcat
Sounds also like you need to tell Roku about this issue and report it as a bug that needs fixing.
G+_Rud Dog
Rickbearcat apparently it is a known problem but can't find Roku's response or solution. Heading back to do some more reading on the site.
G+_David Peach
Our Roku recently started flashing up a screen about unauthorized content. I think it was a black screen. Only stays up for 1/2 a second. Just started this week as far as I know. Wonder if it has something to do with a recent update.
G+_Rud Dog
David Peach Read something about it being a loose cable so checked the connections and now testing.
G+_J Miller
Wow, i use a lot of Roku devices and have never seen this. This would piss me off. Please make a big stink about this at Roku and the TV manufacture as it should not be happening.
G+_Rud Dog
Switched cables yesterday and have not seen the problem since it is either the cable or badly seated connection.
