G+_Rud Dog
Lastpass just raised there subscription fee to $2/month and these monthly subscriptions are nickel and diming me to death. Does anyone know how secure google's password manager really is?
G+_Timothy Carey
What does the pay version have that the free version doesn't? I have the free version and it keeps track of my passwords just fine. Plus my passwords synch over to all my devices.
G+_Wolf 68k
From what I can tell, while Google Password can store your passwords, you have to create them, unless there is a way for it to make them that I'm not seeing. Lastpass can create the very unique passwords for you, among many other things.
G+_Ronald Stepp
I think the paid version has no ads on mobile.. other than that, works great.. i just see it as helping one of the companies that makes my life easier stay in Business. They also make xmarks, the best, in my opinion, bookmark manager. And yeah, i feel your pain as to being nickeled and dimed to death these days.. everyone wants you to subscribe. G+_Ben Reese
It's a bummer they raised the prices. I like the fact that LastPass can fill logins inside apps on Android and that it's completely separate from my Google account. If I stopped using LastPass, I'd probably stick with KeePass. It's a little more work to sync your vault, but I feel it's more secure.
G+_Juscelino Acevedo
I think that everyone is missing the point here and has not answered the question asked, which I am also interested in knowing. G+_Rud Dog
If LastPass is free on desktop and mobile, which I have to admit thought mobile was available only with paid a subscription, well then I can put up adds. Unfortunately, I am afraid of what is to come and by that I mean, if you are already a paid subscriber you can not go back to unpaid and if they allow it you probably have to redo all your password accounts. Now I am just thinking out loud but one of the things could not find on the LastPass website was of course how to switch back to unpaid version. Off I go to see if I can find a way to switch from paid to unpaid. If you have any insight on "how-to" please let me know.
G+_Ben Reese
Juscelino Acevedo that's fair. I don't consider it secure enough for important things. At work I may use Chrome to save the password I use to download software from Oracle, but I wouldn't use it to save my login info for production servers. LastPass may be considered secure enough for those server logins (I still wouldn't), but I would say KeePass definitely is. I'm not a security expert and can't really say if this is the case or not. Rud Dog I'm pretty certain LastPass will let you export and import CSVs or maybe XML. Worst case scenario, you could export from the paid and import to the free. G+_Rud Dog
Ben Reese Yes found out you all are right you can export the password file. Now if I can find a way to go from paid to free will be all set.

G+_Rud Dog
Hot off the press, sort of Finally, LastPass is also taking away a couple of features from its Free service. Free users will now only be able to share one item with one other person rather than having unlimited sharing capabilities, and emergency access is also being stripped away. You can still use emergency access if you’re on the Free plan and already have an emergency contact set up, but new subscribers will have to make the jump to Premium for those features. G+_Rud Dog
Here is the word right from the horse's mouth: When your current subscription expires without renewal, it will automatically revert to a free account. You will still be able to access your account but you will lose all the premium features. Please go to lastpass.com and scroll down the homepage. We have created a table of comparison to help you choose the right subscription. If you decide to go with the free version, please login at https://lastpass.com to avoid further charges. G+_Juscelino Acevedo
Ben Reese thank you for your opinion. Rud Dog thanks for clarifying the LastPass free option, since I was not aware of it. Turns out that my subscription has already expired and I have been on the free version, and I have not experienced any changes that have affected me. G+_Scott Snodgrass
Just use Keepass, it's free. It's store locally instead of the cloud, so it's as secure as you want. Doesn't automatically fill in passwords for you.
G+_Juscelino Acevedo
Scott Snodgrass I have used Keepass in the past and think that it is a great alternative. I was even able to synchronize it via something like Google Drive. The problem for me is that I prefer the convenience of LassPass' features. G+_Rud Dog
Scott Snodgrass going to search for Keepass and read up on it. The reason LastPass was selected, it was based on Steve Gibson's seal of approval. Thank you for the recommendation.
G+_Scott Dible
Juscelino Acevedo Give Enpass a try. The vault is encrypted locally, and syncing tools are built in. It's free for desktop, and you pay a one time fee per platform for the apps. It has a similar feature set to LastPass.
G+_Juscelino Acevedo
Thanks for the suggestion Scott Dible. I will save it and check it out.
