Goal: get an older PowerMac G3 plugged into the HDMI port of a newer flatscreen monitor. (Only because some Legacy PCB layout software is on this drive)

Have tried every combination of adapter and learned a lot but no success.

For the entire story and history of my trials and tribulations do a search for "Spent a major part of yesterday".

Adapters and DVI video card from Ebay was not successful.

So now I ask if anyone has any idea if the following will work and how I go about it?

Is it possible to make an image of the harddrive contents of the older PowerMac G3 and use it in a virtual system on a newer PC? Can't remember the name of the free software at the moment allowing the running of multiple OS's on a PC.

OR

Image the PowerMac G3 drive and load it onto different hardware altogether?

Yes you are witnessing desparation and thank you for you help in advance.

Ben Reese Looking forward to getting this done. One part of my post mentioned or asked if the use of the image of the Hard drive or the drive itself could be used in the environments you all suggested? Not sure if this could be done as after all I am trying to salvage and use some expensive legacy SW.

I think you should be able to. I've cloned Windows drives and used them for VMs in Windows Virtual PC and VMware. I've also cloned drives between virtual disks and iSCSI. I'm sure you can clone the physical disk and boot in PearPC or QEMU. The only problem is knowing what virtual disk format your chosen hypervisor uses.
