G+_Fredrik Fällman
This is why being a sports lover means you can't cut the cord http://www.deadline.com/2013/11/tv-will-be-the-fastest-growing-source-of-sports-team-revenues-study/#more-634516
G+_George Magdaleno
I hear you. The NBA and NFL Packages are less expensive when bundled with TV.
G+_Mario Scott
The package don't anywhere as much money as the over tv licensing deals and mainly cater to hardcore fans. But if you like a lot of sports, those packages become cost prohibitive.
G+_Doc Funkinstein
That's funny they need the money to pay for in stadium events.....they will have to find a better way cause this month I'd say me and my gf spent more time with Netflix/Hulu/and anything in between than on traditional 1000s of channels interface
G+_Bob Decker
Then I am glad I don't like sports.
G+_Eng. Jorge Santana
Just split the cost with a friend and use the apps with their cable login/pass
G+_Mario Scott
It not in there interest when there product still pulls in killer ratings and the networks are willing to pay. The problem is that most for the leagues, more than 50% of there revenues are from tv, not from people going to events themselves.
G+_Josh Johnson
In a decade you'll be able to get all games via the Internet...fingers crossed!
G+_Eng. Jorge Santana
You already can but they are illegal hopefully seeing how Netflix beats Bittorent even though they are charging $$$ in usage content providers will see the light. They can make more $$$ online IMHO...
G+_Mario Scott
Well with the Sunday ticket you can only be longed in on device at a time. You can already get most of the big three through the net legally. They just don't make as much money as they do on TV. ?
G+_Cole Brodine
There was talk of Google bidding on NFL Sunday Ticket. They would be awesome if they let you subscribe via YouTube. I believe DirecTV's contract ends in 2014?
G+_Mario Scott
It does. But I fear Google doing the Sunday Ticket will be just as horrible of a product that direct TV offers via the web.
G+_Cole Brodine
I always wonder how much of that app is DirecTV and how much is clandestine requirements from the NFL. Hopefully Google could do much better. I prefer college football anyway, so I'd rather see ESPN or somebody come out with an internet only subscription. G+_Mario Scott
You hit the nail on the head, what cray draconian rules the NFL will put on the deal.
G+_George Magdaleno
The NFL earns at mininum $3 Billion from TV deals jeopardizing that for the sake of online viewers it has yet to monitize would undermine theur revenue.
G+_Mario Scott
George Magdaleno you are right. This rises to $4.6 billion with the new TV contracts.
G+_Cole Brodine
George Magdaleno - if Google gets Sunday Ticket, I would assume they would still have to follow the NFL's rules about blacking out games on Network TV, etc? I think if Google is willing to follow their rules and outbids the TV people the NFL will take their money.
G+_Mario Scott
Cole Brodine not $4.6 billion. Even if Google gets the Sunday Ticket, it will still be a premium price product. Google will not be able to give it away for free or steep discount. Google has the infrastructure to make it work, which is way better than what Directv is doing. But Google's expertise in pulling off this service as a whole, I don't have faith in.
G+_Cole Brodine
I agree, there is no way they could give it away for free. My understanding is that Sunday Ticket is already a loss leader for DirecTV based on what they charge. If Google can get it, maybe they could offer some other addons like replaying old games or offering Sunday Ticket internationally? I just want streaming football of some sort. I don't currently have any cable and don't want to pay extra for all the other stuff I'm not watching. I'm willing to pay for the football. G+_Mario Scott
Well Amazon had a deal where if you bought the special edition of madden 14 you got the Sunday ticket for free. So I bought it only for that reason. The NFL and Sony had a deal with streaming the Sunday Ticket via the PS3, but that was also $500. ?

G+_Tony Nolen
Jim Ashley The quality is so crappy trying to watch football through a VPN. We need a good, legal, Netflix quality stream for football in the U.S.

G+_George Magdaleno
The Titans stopped running the ball in the 2nd Half. Fitzpatrick is not going to take you anywhere with the passing game Kenny Wright only had 69 yards. Titans lost that game.
