G+_Jason Marsh
If you're concerned about a pet or loved one being caught in the window when closing, there are switches built for just such a thing (sort of). I only know of them as "door edge safety switch", but they are used on automatic gates, ammunition compartment doors, elevator doors... anywhere a sliding door or gate must be stopped to prevent damage to equipment or harm to people. Essentially, it's a very long switch constructed of flat conductive strips parallel to each other with an air gap between. When it strikes an object, one strip contacts the other, closing the circuit and causing the door/gate control to stop or reverse. In cross section imagine a capital "T" with a gap between the upright and cross, and open-cell foam on either side of the upright supporting the cross. Attach leads at one end to both metallic strips, give the upright something to mount to, enclose it all in a limber rubber membrane, and you've got it built. G+_Rud Dog
Jason Marsh Sounds like something to incorporate once the setup is tested for functionality. Thank you for the suggestion.
G+_Rud Dog
Doing some research on a simple DC motor so that all that is needed it a switch to switch the polarity on the motor giving it forward and reverse. Simple approach. It is a matter of finding one that can pull and push the window and fit on the window ledge.
