G+_Rud Dog
Just decided to buy the Synology RT1900ac router based on the fact my Asus RT-AC87u is dropping wifi and now refusing to allow my nexus 6p connect to the wifi service. (BTW google project fi was kind enough to credit $10.00 my account after the Nexus used 1 GB of data while it could not connect to my home wifi). The problem is I wanted to buy it from a brick and mortar store so I could get it going today. The problem the two biggest stores in the area do not carry it, that would be Fry's and Best Buy. What do they know we don't???

G+_Paul Hutchinson
Probably it's just that they know that Synology doesn't offer a large enough wholesale discount to make their desired profit margin on selling their routers.
G+_Rud Dog
Aaron Freeman Thank you. When the wife says "Fixit" it means do it now! But looks like I don't have a choice. Thank you for the link was looking at that just before my wife asked to take care of come other keep-the-man-busy chore.
G+_Rud Dog
Paul Hutchinson Ah yes the dreaded profit margin. Looks like online is truly taking over and it seems they are say dam the torpedoes full speed ahead. (X Navy).
G+_Roger Kolasinski
By the way, do you happen to own a Chromecast? Interesting situation on it causing routers to drop internet connections something about them thinking of it like causing DDOS attack....
G+_Rud Dog
Roger Kolasinski No but thanks for the suggestion.
G+_Rud Dog
After seeing the recommendation for this router I stumbled onto this article. Thoughts? pcmag.com - The Best Wireless Routers of 2018
G+_Ben Reese
For $200, you could get a Ubiquiti Edge Router and UAP-AC-LR access point. And Fri's might even carry them. Setup/management probably wouldn't be as user friendly as what Synology offers, but it should be rock solid hardware.

G+_Rud Dog
Aaron Freeman Took some time review the mesh system and was wondering if the cloud access has any monthly fees associated with it? Would have dug deeper but have to move on to the other steps at my disposal to solve this problem. If you don't see me for a while its cause I managed to have a slow recovery from hard resetting my router.
G+_Aaron Freeman
No Fees for CloudTrax at this time. OpenMesh may be coming out with Firewall soon, and that may have a fee to keep security up to date. I am looking forward to trying it. Moving from Cisco Meraki so way cheaper. G+_Rud Dog
OK, I decided to buy Google WiFi beings the Synology also had reports of dropping wifi. It came in today and just finished setting it up. It was a snap. About an hour into its maiden voyage my wife screams from the other room "My wifi is down". At that very moment decided to check the IoT that was dropping wifi as well and it was also down. SO FRUSTRATED. Need to rest the brain and decide on my next step. Will let you know if I find out anything
G+_Rud Dog
Dieter Breitenbach So far all is great. There was an email alert from Obitalk device it had gone down and back up again around 4:00 AM this morning, this is the first failure since installation. BTW this was not a WiFi disconnect as the ObiTalk is wire device so it was a LAN service loss.
