OK, all you Nexus 6P owners here is a tip for placing your phone in safe mode for whatever reason. Just learned it so thought I would share.

 

Press and hold the power on/off button while your phone is on.

After a short period, seconds in my case, you will be presented with an

on-screen power button. Press and hold till it reboots. When your phone comes online it will be in safe mode which will show up in the lower left-hand corner of your screen.

My s8+ does something similar you long press power and power off, reboot, and emergency mode comes up, if you hold the on screen power off for a few seconds it changes to a green sheild and it says safe mode under it
