G+_Bruno Haineault
Padre, after following your escapades, this 62 yr old tech geek decided to take the plunge and bought a SYMA x5c-1. Next w/b to build one!
G+_John Foreman
Is this a good entry level platform? I'm interested in learning to fly but then move into the DIY. And I'm also looking for something that I can use to inspect my house gutters.
G+_Eddie Foy
yes its a great, nearly indestructible learning platform. As for inspection, the typical Syma X5c doesn't do fvp, so you will have to take pics & video then after landing watch on a computer from the micro SD card. They have a fpv version in the $110 range I think
G+_Jeff Brand
Syma has a new FPV version that uses streaming wifi video to a mobile app. The latency might cause problems for true FPV use, but it's only $75. http://www.banggood.com/Syma-X5SW-Explorers-2-Wifi-FPV-RC-Quadcopter-2_0MP-Camera-RTF-p-972724.html The Syma X5SW also has some design improvements. For current X5C owners, the wifi camera is compatible with the existing mount point and connector. The camera and phone clip cost under $30 at symatoystore. http://www.symatoystore.com/X5SW-12-Camera-Mobile-Phone-Mount
G+_Jeff Brand
Re inspection, the image quality on the Syma is pretty awful. Consider mounting a Mobius or save up for the KH250 plus FPV gear once you get some flight time under your belt.
G+_Larry Havenstein
FPV is of little value unless it supports pan viewing anyway. Otherwise its like trying to fly only seeing out of a tunnel. Its good for seeing if your camera has a decient view of what you are filming but not much use for safe flying.
G+_Larry Havenstein
most of the current pan FPVs I have seen use a super wide angle lens so latency is pretty low, they should work for racing. They aren't really moving the camera.
