G+_Joe Healy
I'm building an Alien X Quad Got lots of parts, ready to assemble. Ran into problem #1. Motor - From RTF Quad - WhiteSpy Red - http://www.readytoflyquads.com/witespy-red-special-motor-1000kv Frame - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QF6QNKY Problem is - holes on the frame aren't quite square and don't line up with the mounting holes on the motors. Questions 1. Have I made a rookie error or was this just a cheap frame? 2. Do others have Alien X frame recommendations? 3. Any recommendations on the where to get the Nylon Spacers? Thanks! G+_Joshua Delaughter
It's a cheap frame. You can widen the holes a hair with a dremel, or drill bit, shouldn't hurt anything, I had to do that on mine. I got a huge box of various sizes of nylon spacers on Amazon for less than 10 bucks
G+_Joshua Delaughter
Joe Healy I also notice that the "neewer" AlienX frame was a bit better quality, the holes lined up better, and the arms were a bit better quality.
G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
Rotate the motors. --- The holes pattern isn't a perfect square.
G+_Joshua Delaughter
Oh gosh, totally skipped over the motor holes part! Don't drill those! The holes for mounting the arms to the top and bottom board of mine were slightly offset, and I had to drill the plate.
G+_Joe Healy
Thanks Guys - Total rookie mistake - turn motor 90 degrees as suggested by Fr. Ballecer - perfect fit.
