G+_Anthony Zammit
Would just like to know if it's possible to "hack" a home router that can connect to a vpn service to make all devices in the house think they are in the US or another region of the world
G+_Sam Zick
I think ddwrt has this function, but I haven't tried it yet
G+_Dan Phillips
For US access no hacking required. Just pay $5 a month to http://unblock-us.com/ You enter in their DNS servers into your router and then anything on your network will be able to access US based. I'm in Canada and do this to get Hulu and Netflix.
G+_Greg M
Dan Phillips The problem with entering that in the router means all of your traffic for all computers including normal web browsing and email etc has the overhead of using those DNS servers rather closer or faster DNS servers. G+_favio cuervo
The answer to your question is yes. Check out http://www.hidemyass.com. they even tell you some recommended routers to use with ddwrt?
G+_Dan Phillips
Greg M I've run speed tests on every device in the house and see no noticeable delay. I can stream 720 and 1080p content with no lag. Anyone else I've suggested the service to reports the same.
G+_favio cuervo
Dan Phillips I think everyone's scenario will be a little bit different. It depends on the servers location relative to your physical location. For example if you live in Florida and you're connected to a server in the UK you will lose more speed than if you were in Canada connected to a server in the US .
