G+_julio mendez
So, I want to make the aquavase project. I have trouble deciding what LEDs I need to get. I know blue 5050s are good for leaf grow, and padre is adding the white one for the plant to look nice. Can i just use RGBs 5050s for this project? i found these. Same brand. https://www.amazon.ca/Lighting-EVER-Flexible-Multi-colours-Non-waterproof/dp/B00JB12IIQ/ref=sr_1_5?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1472963833&sr=1-5&keywords=Lighting+EVER+5050 https://www.amazon.ca/Lighting-EVER-Flexible-Multi-colours-Non-waterproof/dp/B00JB12IIQ/ref=sr_1_5?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1472963833&sr=1-5&keywords=Lighting+EVER+5050
G+_Eddie Foy
5050 is the size, not spectrum. Growing plants, its all about spectrum, and intensity. Sorry, but still old school, MH and HPS are the way to go. (OK, for veg stage you can play, but flowering/fruit bearing stage, it matters.) G+_James Hughes
Those will work but you will have more soldering to do because they are rgb which means that you have a common ground or anode and three anode wires (one for red, green, and blue). Also you will have to find a way to hide the wireless controller. And I'm not sure if they are as bright (probably). The bonus is that you can change between the "grow" and daylight with the controller for the lights (make sure it comes with one).
G+_Eddie Foy
'color' vs intensity matters. Just watch the plant stretching to know you have too little volume of photons availible.
