G+_Michael Celotto
Hey Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ and Know How Community. Got a question. I'm thinking of upgrading my hard drive to a 3TB HD. I currently have an ASUSTek M2N-MX motherboard. How can I find out if my system will support 3TB. I have a 1TB in it now.
G+_Ben Reese
I don't see any reason it wouldn't but couldn't find any confirmation on their website. I've got a 3TB drive in my old dual-core Pentium. FYI: MBR partitions are limited to 2TB so you'll have to use GPT to keep it as one volume. My motherboard won't boot to a GPT partition, so I have to keep at least on other drive to boot from.
G+_Derek Anderson
It should, but as mentioned, you'll have to use GPT if you want a single 3TB partition, which means it won't boot to it. You can add it as a data drive. If you want to boot to it, you'll need to partition it to 2TB & 1TB and use MBR. Newer mobos now support booting to GPT.
