Hey community, any recommendations on IP cameras for home use. My budget was around 25-50 a piece, indoor, 720-1080p, and if possible record them to a NAS or SD Card.

I was thinking about purchasing a few around the house and saw YI brand on Amazon. They get pretty good reviews, but in a review saw that they collect a lot of data on you. I do have an IOT router, but still not sure if I can trust them. Any thoughts?

Here is the one that I was looking at: https://www.amazon.com/YI-Wireless-Surveillance-Monitor-Cloud-Available/dp/B01CW4AR9K/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8

We ended up buying Arlo cams on Black Friday. Still not sure how much I like them. The completely wireless thing is cool, but I'm running into things I don't like.

1) They're Wi-Fi but only connect to their base station. I've invested in good Wi-Fi and I'd like to use it.

2) The base station is essentially a wireless router and the cameras "sync" using WPS. I've always heard WPS is insecure, so I REALLY don't like that it's used here.

3) There's no local recording on the cheaper model (available on "Pro"). I'd rather own the recordings.

4) The app only allows you to log in on one device at a time. Probably good security in a lot of cases, but there shouldn't be any reason my wife and I can't share an account.

5) Motion detection is done by PIR sensors. Probably better for battery life, but usually doesn't have the motion detection range of the camera.

The advantages...

1) We got 5 cameras and the base station for $350ish. Not too bad, I don't think.

2) Cabling is easy (though now I need to run a cable to get the base station centrally located in my house).

3) Access from anywhere without port forwarding. This makes me nervous with some cameras, but I'm hoping Netgear is doing a decent job on their own security here.

4) High SAF (Spousal Acceptance Factor) for ease of use.

5) They look decent. But I may need to buy them some wigs: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075948ZK8

Thanks everybody! Yeah I ended up getting the Arlo for now, just the ease of use and thanks everybody. I am going to try it out for now and I appreciate the great review on the Arlo. Thanks again, I may try a mix and match along with YI or Armcrest for indoor. Thanks everybody!
