My son and I want to start working with the arduino nano and ws2812 christmas lights and saw them on episode 173 of Know How. Is there a list of the parts and instruction of how to wire them and the power supply. I searched but can't find an episode on it so any help would be great.

Thanks,

Stan

I honestly haven't tried, but I think that's pretty much just it.

You may want to get a small kit with resistors, LEDs, potentiometers, breadboard, etc just to have more stuff to play with. I think the Arduino is one one of the best places to go when you're learning programming just because you can bring your code to life.

I know everyone needs to start somewhere, but it seems like the rgb led's would be more fun. Here's an instructable link with good info and diagrams. I have not done it myself, but a couple years ago at the Detroit Maker Faire, some guys had a very large array, that stood 8ft tall that they used parts similar to this for a large tetris game. http://www.instructables.com/id/64-pixel-RGB-LED-Display-Another-Arduino-Clone/

If you are talking about the string of lights at the end of the episode, this is them: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MXW054Y/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1F4BXYJXQP3RR&coliid=I2XSKU6VJ0LXQ2

You need at least at least a 2.5A power supply for the lights alone. They can not be powered via the arduino.

The code used in the episode is here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/bccojhun4bivl4k/KH173.zip?dl=0

The sketch is called: KH173.09_100Lines
