G+_Mikel Venable (techmv)
So, Been following along with the stepper motor builds and I didn't have access to a 3D printer so I cobbled together a base for the stepper motor setup and mounted my gopro to it. Set the delay to 1 second and tried it out today. The clouds didn't look like they were moving at all, I thought it came out pretty good. Can wait to add another axis to this. G+_James Hughes
Looks great! Do you have a picture of your setup? I know you said you don't have a 3d printer, that's what intrigues me.
G+_Rud Dog
Did you use the stepper motor board and UBEC Padre suggested and if you did was there a pin swap needed for the external 5 volts?
G+_Mikel Venable (techmv)
I used the UBEC and stepper motor controller directly from the build. I did not have to swap any pins. Since I didn't have a 3D printer, I knew I had to mount the motor. I took a piece of wood, a Forster bit and a little time and came up with this. The square piece of plywood has a 5mm hole in the center for the motor shaft and a 1/4 countersunk hole to mount the gopro mount. This is NOT it's final form. I know this is probably one of the jankiest setups you have probably ever seen, but hey... it works....:-) it it took me about 15 min to build with a drill press. https://goo.gl/photos/ZkcKLfzhwgAKqTph9
G+_Rud Dog
Would you be so kind as to post a pic close up of the connection between the UBEC and stepper motor board. Great job!
G+_Mikel Venable (techmv)
Sure, I had to trim off the 3rd pin on the UBEC for it to fit on the motor controller https://goo.gl/photos/e53XWRb7ohQxeAbLA
G+_Rud Dog
I must have received a batch of reversed pins. The pics linked show the connection after I swapped the pins. Thank you for responding. https://goo.gl/photos/VHMvo6WYZuhGxptV8 https://goo.gl/photos/Up5J2TnJGZhMLVp4A Used an old power brick to attach to the UBEC.
