G+_Robert Carlos
something maybe for the next show. personally my only complaint with UV so far is not enough disc to digital titles available and the price could come down for some titles. I can stream 1080p/5.1 via Vudu on my HDTV without issue. I would rather have one digital locker UV with many front end players (MGO, Cinemanow, Redbox this summer, Nook this summer, Vudu) so if one player goes out I still have access to the collection. if iTunes loses a deal with the studios then your whole collection is fubared. http://www.fudzilla.com/home/item/30642-ultraviolet-is-a-big-fail-for-me
G+_Tom Gehrke
I'm OK with the concept, but in practice I have quite a few complaints. http://blog.digitalmonkey.net/2013/01/the-sadness-that-is-ultraviolet.html Didn't know there was a UV community on Google+ so thanks for that. And 260 UV movies?! Wow! Nice. :)
G+_Michael Interbartolo
I have ran into a few issues with MGO, Cinemanow and Flixster not playing a movie, but so far Vudu has been pretty solid in playing all the movies regardless of where I redeemed the code, or did the disc to digital conversion. I mostly use Vudu on my smarttv (since the app isn't out yet for my Googletv) and the kids use it on their Nexus7s so I haven't run into the browser issues you mentioned. I have noticed some times at work if I login on with Chrome the site doesn't load right and I have to use IE, but that is just for browsing not actually playing the movies. G+_Tom Gehrke
The upside of a physical collection is that I know (more or less) where to go for a movie. It's on the shelf. With UV I'm not so sure. I can't even imagine dealing with hundreds like you've got. If I could use a single app/site/service (Vudu would be my preference) and get access to my entire library, that would go a long way, IMO. Then it's just a matter of getting that one app/site to work on multiple clients. If someone preferred something else (Flixster, for instance), they should have the same option. Ultimately, it's got to be dead simple and largely foolproof for broad consumer acceptance, IMO.
G+_Michael Interbartolo
I agree it needs to be dead simple and flixster needs to step up and support HD as well as all the movies (about 25 of my 260 are unplayable on flixster) MGO has a nice interface, but lacks the full catalog like Flixster. The players for watching movies is nice on the roku, smarttv, gtv, wd tv live and others, but the initial setup and redemption of codes can be a headache. I don't own all the movies physically (and any I own are dvd that I used disc to digital to upconvert to HD stream) since some are from the other 4 members of my UV collection so my only option is the stream but it saves money cause we can each buy one movie a month but all get to enjoy all the new releases since our accounts are merged at the uvvu.com level. like next week another member preordered the Hobbit but the preorder code into vudu and now tuesday morning we will all have access to it. Plus when going on a trip I can have the kids cache a few movies on their tablets for the plane ride up but then use wifi at the destination to change out the movies for the way back instead of having to lug a bunch of dvds for the whole trip.
