G+_Robert Carlos
Is 15Mbps fast enough for 1080p let alone 4K streaming. I know folks harp on Vudu's 1080p/7.1 streaming compared to BluRay which only requires 9 Mbps so Brian Brushwood and Tom Merritt doing you believe Netflix can really deliver 4K quality over just 15Mbps? http://www.multichannel.com/distribution/netflix-ceo-15-meg-will-be-good-enough-stream-4k/145595
G+_Joseph Akbrud
This prediction is heavily dependent on whether h.265 can deliver.
G+_Rob Chanock
1080p streamed at 50fps is clocking between 8-12 Mbps on my network. I think that true 4K will require quite a bit more than 15Mbps.
G+_Eng. Jorge Santana
Netflix HD stream quality is on the low end right now compare to Vimeo and Vudu so a Netflix crappy 4k could be 15m
G+_Frank Martin
Requires Advanced Video Codec which Harmonic Broadcast sells encoder for, among others
G+_William Armstrong
Um, currently you can try out a preview of h.265 by using Divx player version 10. They also are providing an encoder for testing. When I used their test footage, it looked great, and played well on my MacBook Pro early 2011 (to help give an idea of the quality of machine needed to play it back. I remember when h.264 and xvid were coming out, and no computer could handle more than 15fps at the time.) Current presets are for 720 and 1080p, but there is a custom option, so someone with a 4k monitor should chime in on whether this decodes in real time at that resolution.
