Heatshrink question(s): My Bose earbuds have a split in the insulation between the jack and the reinforced area where it goes to each earbud.

 

The connectors are too wide to slip heatshrink tubing over. Do I just slit the tubing and then heatshrink it to cover the split insulation?

 

I tried using a hair drier to shrink the tubing, but it seems underpowered. Correct?

No. If you slit the tubing, it will pull back from itself when you apply heat.

 

A hairdryer won't cut it. Either get a heat gun (much hotter hair dryer) or (as I do) use a lighter and QUICK passes over the tubing.

Thanks! You're right -- it pulls back on itself . The only tubing l can get over the Jack is way bigger than the wire. Not sure if that will shrink up. Guess I'll test it.
