G+_Alex Chapin
I'm not sure if this has already been answered, but is there a way of retrieving the WiFi password saved on an Android device without having root access? I have a WiFi network saved on my tablet, but I want to connect to it on my phone and have forgotten the password.
G+_Roy Gangle
use the wps button on your router
G+_Alex Chapin
The wifi network is at work (therefore I don't have access to the actual router) and I am trying to avoid admitting that I lost the password and have to ask for it again. But I don't know why you are not allowed to view the password to the wifi network in Android like you can with passwords saved in Google Chrome. G+_Alex Chapin
Thanks for the link. I was hoping to avoid rooting the device with the password on it, but I guess that's the only solution.
G+_Roy Gangle
nothing wrong with rooting, just got to know what to do and what not to do, you can brick your phone if your not careful, hope it helps
G+_Adam Goddard
Under 'Backup and reset' in the settings menu you can back up and restore device settings such as wifi passwords. It is suppost to work when you set up new devices with the same google account.? Just backup on the tablet and restore on the phone.
G+_Alex Chapin
Adam Goddard that's a good idea. I will try that and see if it works. Thanks!
G+_Bret Friday
If you haven't rooted yet, do you have something like LastPass? I haven't installed it on my phone yet but do know it worked on my laptop so it could be worth a shot. Note: the mobile version does require a pay account but it isn't that expensive. G+_Alex Chapin
Bret Friday I didn't root it or try Adam's suggestion yet. LastPass would probably only help once I figure out what the wifi password is right? It wouldn't be able to extract it from my device with the wifi password stored on it, would it? G+_Adam Goddard
LastPass does import wifi passwords on the desktop but not on mobile.
