G+_Robert M
People of the Know How community, I beseech thee in your infinite combined wisdom in hopes you may be able to help me with a tech issue I am having. For Christmas, I received an Acer Aspire Switch 10 E, and found that I was having difficulties with the audio, it's quality at a lower level than average what I hear for bluetooth devices, or even audio in general. While I am sure the majority of you have built computers that not only have home theater level audio quality, but had to be put down when they started to take over your quadcopters and other various RC devices in it's bid at being the next Skynet, I still hope someone can help me so I am not needing to add a secondary bluetooth device to get decent sound. G+_Keith Mallett
Start by making sure all of your firmware and drivers are current. Just because it was new at Christmas doesn't mean its running the latest BIOS. http://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support
G+_Robert M
Keith Mallett I've already tried that, unfortunately that is not the issue. I tried talking to the tech support for Acer they told me that it's just how it'll sound. It's why I figured I'd come here to see if anyone here may have any ideas which will make it function like a normal bluetooth transmitter.
G+_John Phillips
Is it ok when you plug in earphones?
G+_Robert M
John Phillips Yes, I even have a bluetooth transmitter (bought it for something I used a long while ago) that plugs into a headphone jack and it sounded fine when I broadcasted it that way. I just really hope that doesn't become my main way of making this all work.
G+_John Phillips
As they say you get what you pay for, But having said that, i have yet to hear what i would call good sound from a small portable device like what you are using, although i was quite surprised by an iPad Pro recently, There just isnt the room to fit decent sized speakers in them, so yeah bluetooth is an option but wifi is better
G+_Robert M
John Phillips the speakers sound decent, although I wouldn't consider them if I wanted to listen to something while something else was going on. I'm just starting to believe if I want good Bluetooth audio, I have to use a secondary Bluetooth device.
G+_Robert M
I think it's time to call defeat on this, as much as I'd like a decent quality bluetooth signal, I think the only way for it to work would be if Fr. Robert said a prayer for my computer and performed a holy miracle.
G+_Keith Mallett
Robert Marriello Sorry, I work nights and am in class during the days. I have had a lot of hit and miss success with Blue Tooth. For example, my car radio pairs with my Sony Xperia phone and the phone controls are seamless, the streaming stereo audio is amazing quality but drops out every 5 mins or so and I have confirmed it is the radio not the phone. When I pair my S5 phone with the same car radio, the phone controls suck but the streaming audio is seamless and never fails yet you can tell its not a good quality as the Xperia (so podcasts are acceptable). While the 802.15.1 standard outlines the criteria that mfg's are to follow, there currently at least nine versions available. (See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth) Also, remember - this PAN technology was originally designed for limited range areas and short term usage. It has evolved faster than any other type of wireless tech the IEEE has issued standards for. I would suggest is that you see if you can find out what versions the devices you have are running and try and pair up the devices with the same version. This will take a bit of research and testing and may result in you buying new speakers but once you find the right pairing you will be happy. Until then, you will be frustrated. If Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ is taking orders for blessings then I have a server and UTM box I would appreciate him blessing as well... Hope this helps! :)
G+_Keith Mallett
John Phillips John, try the Mint Raindrop speakers - they are amazing... Look at the Sony phone. They cost more and have less features than their Android counterparts but I have been amazed at what quality comes out of my Xperia Ultra.
