G+_Dan Phillips
“You actually have two environments to maintain” BlackBerry confirms that if you have BB10 you will need to install an entirely separate BIS server for them. http://www.itworldcanada.com/news/will-blackberry-10-entail-complex-server-installs/146904?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=twitterfeed
G+_Cole Brodine
If you need a complete server install, what is to stop you from just switching products completely?
G+_Dan Phillips
Switching could be a bit of an issue. More than likely you'll not be in a position to upgrade everyone at once.
G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
In the meantime, most will just stick with exchange. :(
G+_Brent Noblitt
This is part of the reason Blackberry is dying. The idea of having to have servers for Blackberry's enterprise services is dumb. This is why we moved our Blackberry users to iPhones. Much easier to manage and we don't have to maintain other servers on top of Exchange in order to give our users access to their email. G+_Dan Phillips
Brent Noblitt But isn't that their bread and butter? They make good money on licenses for BES. But I agree that this makes no sense from a sys admin point of view. I don't think they are considering that another server means I have to pay for and maintain a Windows license and hardware (rack space, power, regular maintenance, etc.)
G+_Brent Noblitt
Dan Phillips That is definitely their bread and butter. Our company used their free BES option that is no longer available. We wouldn't have kept the BES even if it was free for the new one. They claim it is more secure, but does that matter when they open their servers up for inspection by governments whenever they come calling? Why would I spend the resources when I can get the same service with Android or iOS? Obviously they have a following and some demand still, I just can't justify their service at my company.
