G+_Austin Clark
Need a little advice on a NAS purchase. I’m looking at a Qnap TS-453Pro box but at the same time looking at the popular 4 disk Synology offerings. The Windows box I’m replacing is mostly used for file server and Utorrent. I’m trying to find out if Synology has a BT client that supports proxy to a VPN service, for example BTguard. It looks like Qnap has rtorrent that supports proxy routing in the client. Thoughts? Ideas?
G+_Taylor Graham
You can run transmission inside a jail on FreeNAS. I believe you can install open vpn within the same jail as well. It's a fun thing to set up if you're looking to tinker. FreeNAS is love.
G+_Eddie Foy
There is a proxy setting in the control panel of the Synology, but no proxy setting I see in the Download Station (BT client) Now a third party might have it. There is a Transmission port.
G+_Austin Clark
FreeNas normally but I'm hoping for a smaller form factor than a pc box and less energy pull.
G+_Taylor Graham
My haswell FreeNAS pulls like 45w idle. I think thats pretty good! But I understand what you mean. Anytime someone mentions a Nas I feel the need to push the gloriousiness of FreeNAS upon them :].
