I watched Leo's review of the Roku3. 

 

The Rokus have had an official USB app for the last couple of generations. 

 

And although there is no official iTunes app, there is an unofficial iTunes Podcast app (both video and audio):

And the official Youtube app has been removed from the store (existing users weren't affected).  But there is an unofficial app:

One last thing, the micro sd card is to store apps and games.  It supposed to make the Roku quicker since you don't have to go back to the roku site to re-download them if they were deleted because of lack of space.  It's not made for playing user content.  The USB port is made for that
