G+_Erik Ellsinger
Does anyone have any tips on how to best protect against power surges over my TV antenna cable? I've looked at something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Parts-Express-Cable-Coaxial-Protector/dp/B0002KR7EK/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1463175628&sr=8-10&keywords=surge+protector+tv But is that really enough? I'm also not completely clear on how it works, my guess is it cuts the connection if it senses a power surges? http://www.amazon.com/Parts-Express-Cable-Coaxial-Protector/dp/B0002KR7EK/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1463175628&sr=8-10&keywords=surge+protector+tv
G+_Eddie Foy
Using cable TV or Antenna and worried about lightning, static build-up, and the such? I think cable TV is a 1Vpp, so anything much over that would get snubbed. (forgot the name but its a little fancy gas filled zener like diode/device) Now if you also have a cable modem, do consider every connection and device drops the signal. Every 3dB is the is 1/2 the signal.
G+_Erik Ellsinger
If I could use fiber I would already be but that is not an option. I have a UPS but it doesn't have a coax connector, I would have bought one that had if I could but I can't find anyone in Sweden. So that is why I'm looking at this alternative since the coax is like a backdoor for a lightning strike into my otherwise protected system. G+_Eddie Foy
For lightning I use one of these on my 20 meter dipole which is hanging 30 feet in the air. Good to 500MHz. http://tinyurl.com/zzeo7wz
