G+_Adam Schweitzer
Just finished my first quad build, the KH 250 today. Very happy overall with the parts and performance. Just one problem...I ended up the the RTF Quads 1806-2300KV motors. During my first flight I was hovering a few feet from the ground and it just fell out of the blue. My initial inspection looked like one of the motors may have gotten a screw in the windings because the top half of the motor was all wobbly and barely spun. Tonight, once I had a chance to take it apart, I found out it was actually a loose locking screw for the prop shaft. You can see in the pictures one of my others motors that surprisingly was still working; moving up and down about 1/8". So 2 out of 4 of these motors had this problem apparently. Anyone else have this issue? Is this something I should be checking often? Never heard Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ mention this on the show before. G+_Quadflyingmedic
Pull the setscrew out and put some locktight on it and line it up tighten it down and shouldnt have any more problems. I always make sure everything is tight and has locktight on it when building. Had a bell fly off a motor on a maiden of one of my quads never found it. Learned the hard way. Congrats on your first build
G+_Adam Schweitzer
Thanks! I did exactly that on all 4 motors now. Fingers crossed for my next flight!
G+_Erik Ellsinger
Never had that issue on my quad. But I have had two props fly off just on take off. So make sure you put some locktite on the nut that holds the prop in place.
G+_Quadflyingmedic
Erik Ellsinger be careful with locktite on tje prop nuts. Locktote devrades plastic. Get some nylock nuts and you will have no worries
