Hey iyaz akhtar good episode on securing your device and I have a few additions.

Before Android Device Manager I used (and still use) Cerberus https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lsdroid.cerberus&hl=en . The features on this app are freaking amazing to scary. You can install it on up to 5 devices and you can log on via its website to locate your phone. But wait there's more... You can also have it take a picture and email it when someone enters the wrong unlock pattern or code (the person holding the device is not aware that a picture is taken), you can wipe the device, record audio and video and have that emailed to you, When someone removes your sim card it will send a message to a number of your choosing letting you know this and if they put in another sim card it will send that information as well. You can also have it send periodic updates of the location of the phone. But wait there is more... if you are rooted then you can hide the app from the app drawer and the only way that the app can be removed from the device is if the person flashes a custom rom, if they do a simple factory reset its still there, it can also turn on the GPS. But wait there is even more... what is the phone is not connected to the internet, then you can also activate many of these features via text message to your device and it will not alert the person who has the phone. All in all its a very powerful app, here is the faq, https://www.cerberusapp.com/help.php. I picked up this app when it was mentioned on AAA in one of the early episodes (we got it at a discount) and thankfully I haven't had to use it but its great to know its there.

Also Samsung has been offering a similar find my phone feature on their devices since the original Galaxy S by registering your phone with them it also has the option to send the number of an unknown sim card.

Finally you mentioned about retrieving your contacts. Well if you have an Android phone you can have all your contacts synced with Google and they will be available on the web or if you log in on a new phone. You also have the option to have your settings and apps synced so if you wipe your device and you sign back all your apps will be there your contacts and even your wireless passwords (the last one has me a little edgy as well as the EFF https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2013/07/google-keep-android-users-secure-network-passwords-secure

Love the show
