G+_Brett Olson
Anyone recommend a good home energy monitoring system? My home meter is not ZigBee capable nor do I want to use the IR on the face of the meter so I would have to use physical CT connections or other means inside my breaker box. I have worked in the energy market for 8 years and I'm still not sure where to start with this one. I'm thinking about building my own with the Pi
G+_Ben Reese
That looks pretty cool and $300 probably isn't a terrible price. I'd be interested in a DIY option too, but for the high amperage sensors I'm not sure you could get too much cheaper. Plus high voltage isn't really something to just experiment with. G+_Ben Reese
Alright, now that's cool! I'm work on turning my Pi into a connected garage door opener (trying to do it right with as much security as possible without getting in the way too much), so running wires to the breaker box for something like this would be really cool. G+_Eddie Foy
How granular? I had some integrated in my HA system. If a light, HVAC, etc was on, it logged the time and calculated use based on know consumption. Fed the data into a Filemaker database.
