G+_Abanoub Ghipriel
Can some please help me out? OK here's the deal... I recently purchased a windows 8 touch screen laptop ( its the x202e on amazon) and I wanted to replace the included HDD with my purchased SSD. I have two questions. 1) Should I clone or do I fresh install? I read that cloning can lead to issues and that a fresh install is way better. The computer is brand new and I have not installed anything on it. 2) How would I go about installing a fresh copy of Windows 8 on the SSD? Thanks for taking the time to read this. Much obliged. G+_K R
I prefer if you do a fresh installation .
G+_Greg M
Did you create a set of recovery DVD discs or USB thumb drive image? If so then one should be able to remove the batter and ac power to the laptop, remove the existing hard drive and install the SSD. Then you would boot with the recovery disc or off the USB thumb drive to install Windows.
G+_Bruce Miller
I put an SSD in a new laptop, and just cloned the drive without any issues. If the laptop came with a lot of bloatware, you might want to do fresh install. SSDs are awesome!
G+_Bruce Miller
You do need to make sure Windows recognizes it as an SSD so that it changes some of its settings that are different for an SSD (doesn't defrag for example) .
