G+_Geoff Galley
Hey Guys, I currently have a Qnap NAS with only 2 2tb western digital Reds installed in the other 2 bays I have been thinking of installing a pair of SSD's but which ones do I stall. I have been looking at a pair of Kingston Hyper X drives.
G+_Adam EL-Idrissi
Personally I say Samsung 850 or Intel since they have slightly higher speeds and stay at those speeds. I boighy a Kingston ssd now for my Mac mini when I had it and it was fast but then speeds started fluctuating after about a year. I still have a Samsung 840 that's about 2 years old and still going strong.
G+_Travis Hershberger
A NAS with SSD? Forgive me if I just don't see the point. The WD RED drives probably read/write about the same speed a 1Gb network goes. Neat idea, and I'd love for someone to prove me wrong!
G+_Adam EL-Idrissi
I would say depends on use case.his nas has multiple NICs so that would give faster speeds. Linus tech tips has a 24 bay all ssd server and two 10gig NICs teamed for his editors. For my uses I'd just use it for a cache and even then its over kill. But why not play around with it if you have the opportunity?

G+_Jason Marsh
If your spinners can shut down when inactive, having a cache on a SSD is great. Even if your spinners don't sleep, a SSD cache is great to have, especially if you're employing redundancy with slow hardware or non-hardware RAID(ish) implementations.
