I currently use drive snap shot when I want make a complete image of my main hard drive and I use sync toy 2.0 when I want to sync certian folders or files. I have scheduled sync toy to do a sync every Sunday in the back ground. The free version of drive snap shot works for around 30 days without paying for a licence, then if you want it to continue working you either have to download it again or pay for a licence for each machine you use it on. Is there any other drive imaging software out there were you only have to pay one licence fee no matter how many machines you use it on or even if there is a free version that can be scheduled without have to downloaded it every month.

Geoff Galley if you don't purchase the backup software is the backup image still accessible? I purchased some backup software a very long time ago and ran across the DVD's I used for them and with out the original software I can't see the data on the DVD's, hence the questions.

On Security Now 552, Steve mentioned he uses "Image for Windows" to clone his SSD to an HDD. I believe that's a one-time cost, but I have no experience with it. I generally trust GRC advice...

I prefer to just do a clean install. The data is most important and its backed up. Applications can be easily reinstalled.
