G+_Daniel Charles
I think his point is that 0.90 GB + 155 MB < 1.97 GB by about 1 GB. Jason Perry, it could be pictures, music, or other downloads taking up the space and would not be shown as application data.
G+_Jason Perry
Thanks Daniel Charles that is exactly what I was getting at. My son uninstalled my game and I was frustrated trying to figgure out how to get it back on. Still trying. I went through and cleared all the app data which is a pain. Uninstalled more programs than I cared to and moved all the files I could find off but I can't figure out what is taking up this 941MB worth of space. G+_Travis Hershberger
Jason Perry It's probably all the apps you can't uninstall (really, it's impossible, and annoying!) If you're still having trouble getting that game installed, you can go to play.google.com on a computer. Look at your programs, and have it install on your device from there. Some game developers decided that downloading the files from within the app would be a good idea. Dunno why other than it's annoying and doesn't always remove the files like it should when you remove the app.
G+_Jason Perry
Travis Hershberger would that not show up as part of the 0.9GB of storage being used for applications?
G+_Travis Hershberger
Jason Perry That's a great question. I don't know :(
G+_Ben Reese
To only have 2 GB of internal storage would stink! What device is that? I think maybe my EVO might be around that. It's a bit of work, but if you root the phone you can usually mount part of the SD card as internal storage. Once that's done, you'll have a lot more room for apps. One other place that I know ate up storage on that phone was messages. All sent/received MMS's are stored internal and may not show up as app storage. If they do, it's usually under "Dialer Storage" as an app. If you still can't find it, a factory reset may be the only thing to get that space back. G+_Ben Reese
Alex Hulinsky? I'm sorry you don't like Android because it allows someone to sell a phone with 2GB of internal storage. That openness is actually the very reason so many people love Android.
G+_Jason Perry
Ben Reese it is a Samsung Gs2 I believe it has 16G but only 2 are for the device and the rest are "USB storage." The text messages are a good call I am going to try that.
G+_Jason Perry
I have thought about rooting it but the consequences of me not getting it right keep me from doing it.
G+_Taylor Graham
There aren't really any consequences. I bet its like a one click process for your phone too, its so easy these days. You really cant break anything by rooting the phone. You void the warranty, but that thing is running gingerbread. Id guess its old enough to no long have a warranty. Its sort of a security hole, but id imagine that phone has plenty even without root.
G+_Jason Perry
Taylor Graham I am more concerned about bricking it I have a less common sub-variant made for a certain Canadian provider. I have watched plenty of tutorials but don't want to brick my phone because it has some small difference.
G+_Ben Reese
Yeah, I'm all for rooting, but if you don't feel comfortable with it it's probably not worth it.
