G+_Jason Perry
I am starting to think about using a quad to capture data to create my own GIS database. My current thought is to have a R-Pi as a payload with a good sized SD card to buffer the data and send it to a base station for final processing. To start I am thinking of using the Pi cam and the NIR Pi cam plus a sonic range finder pointing straight down. From there the sky is the limit as to what sensors to collect data with. Anyone have links to tutorials that might help or ideas on what data would be interesting to collect. I am thinking about playing around with a dedicated radio for transmitting the data and ways to improve the accuracy of the GPS.
G+_Travis Hershberger
GPS! Personally I love using Adafruit products because they provide code examples on their web site in addition to the hardware. http://www.adafruit.com/products/
G+_Jason Perry
Slam sensors are starting to come down in price it would be a fun toy to have. I am also thinking of putting a WiFi receiver to map hot spots.
