G+_Jonathan Martin
What was your first computer? (Calculator wristwatches / programmable calculators / Speak & Spell / etc don't count) Mine was an Oric 1 - the flashy 48k model of course! I recall that it cost £160 from Laskeys in 1983. Most of my friends were buying the ZX Spectrum but being a bit of a contrarian I plumped for the Oric because of it's superior sound. What was your first? G+_Don Crowder
I bought a used Apple II+ for $300 sometime around 1985. Paid around $35 for a card that expanded the RAM from 48K to a whopping 64K. Taught myself a little Applesoft Basic and bought ten floppy disks filled with public domain software, from Compuserve, for $10. Most of the content was games written by students and most of them were buggy. I had a tremendous lot of fun troubleshooting those programs and, in many cases, was able to "fix" the software so my kids could play with it.
