G+_Jason Perry
Just looking at the official RPi touch screen. Hmm.... It is almost the right size to use as a front panel for a car stereo. Anyone know if I can shave 2mm off the top and bottom? And any recommendations on how to?
G+_Brian Moses
just a thought... shave a mm from the plastic in the dash and see how it fits ..
G+_Jason Perry
Thought of that. I am after the option that is the least amount of work. I don't look forward to tearing my dash apart to grind the piece of metal down that's under the piece of plastic.
G+_Nathan Proulx
I have the thing, and its a 1mm thick screen cover - seemingly plastic. But it has such a nice mirror finish on the front, I'd be worried about taking something like a dremel to it. I'd agree it's probably easier to mod the dash. If I did try to mod the screen cover, maybe I would try to score it and then cut/snap it off...?

G+_Jason Perry
Does the metal plate define the functional area of the display?
G+_Nathan Proulx
The metal is a box enclosing the screen circuitry. Without cracking it open to see where the circuitry actually is, there is about a centimeter difference between the screen and the box all around - IE if the screen is 20cm wide, the box is 22cm wide...
