G+_Jason Perry
Always excited to hear an announcement from the RPi Foundation, but personally I was hoping to hear about an update to the compute module first. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2016/02/26/raspberry_pi_3/
G+_Jason Perry
Hunter Tyree, if it makes you feel any better the RPi foundation doesn't seem to be acknowledging the existence of a RPi3 yet.
G+_Jeff Brand
While their release schedules seem to favor Feb-April (except for the Pi Zero) I doubt they prefer meeting release deadlines over proper testing. I don't know how long the FCC takes to finish their certification process, and then for mass production to commence. It sounds like we have a couple months before pre-orders, at soonest. If you really want to wait, I might be willing to buy yours off of you. :D
G+_Ben Tyger
This should have been done with the RPi2. I'd have dropped RJ45 for onboard wireless 2 revs ago. Wireless is far more common and useful than RJ45 for a device this size and power. Bluetooth is a nice one too. Frees up another USB slot.
G+_Jeff Brand
I'm guessing it was entirely a cost decision. Also, if they're thinking about composite video output as a use case, Ethernet would target the lowest common denominator in a similar way. Obviously they're evolving away from both. G+_Steve Martin
Yes, to be clear, this was not an announcement from the RPi folks. This was a leak from the FCC filing. It doesn't give full specs, nor do we know when it will be released. Too soon to be upset over a recent purchase. Unless you didn't really have a plan for what you were going to do with that RPi. G+_Rud Dog
Does the RP have full unix/linux OS?
G+_Jeff Brand
Rud, yes! Raspbian is a customized Debian distro. It's compiled for the ARM processor.
G+_Rud Dog
I know I am pushing it a bit but since there might be upgrade in the future to include wifi guess it makes sense to hold off in favor of that option. Where the push come from, is there a working environment where one can see what all is included in the customized Debain used on the RP?

G+_Dan Hockey
Berry boot is a boot loader(like noobs) for rpi. but it will work for any Linux distro berry boot will let install for the pi or pi 2. Berry boot has the option to install linux to a usb device large enough to it.
G+_Ben Reese
Berry boot also let's you multi-boot the Pi. It's great for playing around like testing something on a clean install of Raspbian.
