G+_Jason Perry
Listening to TWiET. Here's my thought, should the next big 'smart home' hub not be a RADIUS server that isolates the devices it controls that decides who can access it and what it can access? It sounds to me like the software is out there it just needs to be brought together.
G+_Steve Martin
Interesting idea. So having separate VLAN's for the IOT stuff while allowing authenticated devices access to the primary secured network. I like the idea, but wonder if it would be a bit much for the typical user to setup and configure. Certainly sounds like an opportunity for a business if the system could be put together with a cheap enough components to make an appliance and have simple push button configuration. G+_Jason Perry
Steve Martin?, I completely agree with you. It is more a business opportunity or a maker project. I think Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ? should give it a try for know how ;)
G+_Jason Perry
I don't think you really need much processing power a RPi should do. You would need a ZigBee radio, WiFi radio, and I have no idea how you would interact with the z-wave products, oh and Bluetooth. Well that is quite the attack surface. What else can we throw in there, IR......
G+_Jason Perry
I didn't think you could get a z-wave radio http://www.zwaveoutlet.com/collections/z-wave-home-automation-controllers/products/razberry-z-wave-plus-gpio-card-for-the-raspberry-pi
