Oh - the HVAC guy is from the states! Good to know. I've appreciated your comments in the past 610bob

Well my vote is yes! I agree with the FAA. Of course, I'm sure law enforcement will find a way around it.

I'm just getting into drones but I take it Jason Perry you flying some.

I wonder if Canada will look at some legislation. I'm planning on tanking my drones to the campgrounds this summer.

Keith Mallett Thanks. Yea, I have a drone.

There are two things about this that I don't like about this. One, this leave no recourse for a civilian. I'm not saying we should be able to shoot down any quad that comes onto our land. Just like we can't shoot somebody that comes onto our land. But if it is a threat, which is possible, we should have some recourse. Also, airports should have the ability to take down a drone. Which this says that they can't.

Two, this is a drone, not a 747. That should be handled by the local police, not by the fbi. What are they going to do, haul away a 17 year old because he crashed his drone into his friend's drone? Heck, could we be charged for reckless endangerment of an aircraft? :)

I am sure this is just growing pains and more sensible laws will be put into place. But sometimes, I just have to shake my head at my government. :)

Keith Mallett Ha, yea if I saw that coming towards me, I wouldn't even think about the law. :)

But yea, some sicko would think its funny by buzzing people. This would be a threat because those blade can hurt. Somone could also have a load like rocks in a bag and drops them on somone vehicle. Again, I'm not saying let's shoot down drone with fully automatic weapon. Just lets leave the door open for something safe like an anti drone drone, rubber bird shot, or something else entirely.

Ben Reese From what I understand, anything that leaves the ground is covered by the faa which I think is where the problem is. Why does the faa have control over the airspace above my lawn? Why is the faa so slow at creating sensible laws. Why Am I asking so many questions? :)

I think the faa needs a leash. They shouldn't have control of the air above my lawn (think of all of the kids on trampolines violating faa air space :) ). There needs to be laws for quads, but I don't think they need to be federal.

Heck, It may be best to have local laws. I live in a small farming community in a hole in the ground (ok it's a valley) 400 feet may just be above the hills that surround my town. Philadelphia on the other hand, I don't think there should be any drones flying there whatsoever (unless there indoors or they have a permit to do so).
