G+_610GARAGE
Trigger. I use that to run a tasks on my phone when I scan a card. NFC tools for debugging and reading raw data.
G+_Travis Hershberger
+610bob Do you use any pre-made NFC access points?
G+_610GARAGE
Travis Hershberger No. The only thing I really use nfc for is to turn my wifi on, set volume, and start playing music for when I go to bed. I believe I used Trigger to make that nfc card.
G+_Jason Perry
Do I phone's use nfc for anything other than apple pay yet?
G+_Mark Quinn
I would like to see NFC used with electric door locks on cars. However my vehicle doesn't have electric locks.
G+_Ben Reese
I don't think Apple has opened access to the NFC yet. I've used a few apps in the past, but I don't have any installed currently. They were real cool in the beginning, but kinda lost their novelty. Still a great idea if you can find a use. If I remember correctly, Trigger had a couple options. I think you could program a tag to store the steps that you wanted, or the app could store the unique ID of the tag so it knew what to do when it was tapped. Now that I'm thinking about it, I need to dig some of my tags out and see what else I can come up with.
G+_610GARAGE
Ben Reese I think you're right, but it's been awhile since I've made a tag. I also agree, nfc tags have their niche, but aren't all that useful. I think one of the things that prevents me from making more tags is that I have to unlock my phone for a tag to be effective. At that point, I might as well just do what i need to do.
G+_Jason Perry
Wait a second I have to unlock my phone for the tag to work! I want to set my phone down by my bed and it just changes my volume settings.
G+_610GARAGE
Jason Perry Yea, I know. Thats how it used to work and was (in my opinion) useful that way. But it's a big security vulnerability, so it got locked down. I don't know why they couldn't make it so that certain tags were remembered and whitelisted. G+_Jason Perry
610bob?, I can't agree with you more. Or white list functions like ringer volume.
G+_Ben Reese
If you're phone is rooted, there are mods to let the NFC work from the lock screen too.
