G+_Apollo Lemmon
Am I just crazy? Listening to Security Now and Steve and Leo are saying they're not covering HealthCare.gov because it's too big a disaster. What? How is that a reason not to cover something? I would submit that HealthCare.gov is bigger news than NSA spying. With NSA, US citizens are at risk of being surveilled, but with HC.gov, it is all but a fait accompli that the site will be hacked, if it hasn't been already. That seems like an important security topic. Why is this topic too big for SN to cover? SG and Leo say that they can't get any objective reporting from the networks (because of political spin). I agree. But, doesn't that make a perfect opportunity for TWiT to step in and give unbiased security related information about the topic? Even if there is nothing being reported in mainstream media, isn't it the job of the press to dig? I can say with certainty that HC.gov's immense repository of information with an internet-facing front-end MUST be under some kind of security threats. What are they? How are they being counteracted? I'd love for TWiT to make a few phone calls and report what they find.
G+_Stuart Petty
Jey Gifford I think it's been done to death now, Governments the world over don't get IT full stop, the verge did an interesting peice on the failings of the project, worth a watch
G+_hari jayaram
The show is called security now ..and I think the NSA revelations have a more obvious security angle than the healthcare.gov site.
G+_Jey Gifford
hari jayaram, I don't understand why they would be mutually exclusive. Covering the NSA is rightly justified, but I don't understand the logic of excluding HealthCare.gov simply because it's "too big" a disaster and/or people have made it a political topic. SN can easily ignore the politics and cover issues that are security related.
G+_Tom Wisniewski
If there are security stories regarding healthcare.org then they should definitely cover them. Concentrate only on the technical side of course.
G+_David Pick
Its a large topic that could easily cover 2 weeks and still not cover everything. Another consequence of pointing out the obvious flaws is educating would be hacker's how to take it down.
