So who has iPhone 5 and who has Samsung GS4 are you staying put or debating any switches?

iOS and Android are very different.  Several years ago I owned a 3GS.  After iOS 4, I switched to Android.  Android allows a little more customization than iOS.  This makes it more powerful but also more complex.  iOS is perfect for people who like a clean, simple interface.

I'm really into technology and had a android for a short period of time for a work phone. It was nice but battery life was poor then. I enjoy the open possibilities to do what you like. I'm not sure about the HTC One since its not on Verizon yet and I've heard issues about its battery life. The S4 looks great and the battery life sounds great and I like the extra battery ability.

I had an iPhone 4 and now have a GS4. No regrets. I have not really had any app issues, actually find there are some nice apps that the iPhone 4 could not have, S-Voice and the Google Navigation for two. I do miss the red notification numbers on the G+, FB icons, but generally I find the UI great. The LTE is amazing. Battery life is weak, 3 days vs 2 from my iPhone 4  to the GS4. But sounds like the 5 is a bit of a battery hog too. I've seen iOS7 on the 4S and am not too impressed with some of it, the dialer is horrid. 4.2.2 Android is quite nice except they took away the ability to have it as a USB mass storage device and opted instead for MTP. Thus making my mini stereo not able to play media off it.  So there in a rambling way is my ups and downs with the GS4. Your mileage WILL vary.

I've had both Android and iOS devices, and I'm really happy with my iPhone 5 and iPad. (Disclaimer: I'm a Mac user, so for me, it's a very smooth experience. Notably, I can't stand iPhoto or any of that crap, and don't use iCloud for much of anything.) My husband has a Galaxy Nexus, and it's really, really cool... except that the battery life sucks. Horribly. So I'd be wary on that point. Otherwise, Android is looking great these days (although I'm happy with iOS and not really thinking of switching).

I had a Samsung phone and the experience was so bad, I will never, ever own another Samsung phone, no matter how much better current phones are. Currently, I have an HTC One and I'm fairly happy with it.

If I had the money to pay the monthly service on an iPhone,I would switch in a heartbeat, however. I don't find that I use the customization ability or widgets or any of that on my HTC Android phone very much at all. (I have one widget -- a clock/weather thing that is stock. Anything else seems a battery drain.) And I love my iPad and iOS experience when it comes to integrating with my Mac and iCloud (even though I have my HTC One set to sync with my address book and calendar via iCloud anyway).

The difference, though, is $35/month with Virgin Mobile vs. $70-100 for other providers. (Even T-Mobile's recent change, enticing though it is, can't match $35/month.) That extra money adds up!

Oh, last thing: I hate large phone screens. I have a 10" iPad for my large screen needs. For a phone, I want something much smaller, and the iPhone and my HTC One are just right in that regard. When a phone has over 4-4.5" screen, I stop bothering to consider it.
