G+_Jason Perry
Is there any way to add a digitizer to a pain of glass? I want to do a magic mirror project and would love to make a corner touch sensitive.
G+_Eddie Foy
With enough money basically anything is possible. You might wanna go the other way. Find a digitizer panel and convert into the mirror.
G+_Jason Perry
My current thought is to take the RPi display and delaminate the digitizer and glue it to the pain of glass I want to use. Unless I find another solution I figure this is my best option because I want to use a RPi and it is already very opensource. My first concerns with out even doing research is using an HDMI display for the picture and the RPi digitizer for input in one corner
G+_Robert Hafer
Would it be easier to put a mirror finish on a trackpad? Just spitballing.
G+_Eddie Foy
How much input? Just like navigation buttons? Might be able to do a DIY capacitive or resistive deal.
G+_James Hughes
You can buy overlays that can turn any flat surface into a touch screen. Google touch screen overlays.
G+_John Nooncaster
I think it might be a real "pane" to accomplish
G+_Travis Hershberger
I think a kickstarter a couple years back had an infrared sensor you could mount on top of a monitor, and it would detect hand motions near the screen. Haven't noticed any around for some time tho, it's sad.
G+_Eddie Foy
Travis Hershberger saw a IR grid overlay 25+ years ago as a project in a mag (Nuts & Volts or Circuit Cellar)
G+_Jason Perry
John Nooncaster?, bazinga Eddie Foy?, of the top of my head, a number pad, play/pause, something to change the category of data being displayed. I am sure there may be more, but simple input. I will have to look at some of the options here. Since I don't need anything too complex I think i am just looking for something that is clean looking. I may even just use my cell phone.
G+_Nathan Proulx
A few years back, DIY touchscreen was the rage. Maybe an IR laser array...? http://wiki.nuigroup.com/Hardware
G+_James Mitchell
Can you use a couple of photo-sensors (light resistors)?
G+_Jason Perry
James Mitchell?, ummm..... that might be the winner right there. Block off around the sensor so when your finger covers it you have a trigger worthy event. I like it PS I can't wait for Christmas to see a follow up video. G+_Golden Retriever
As a former banking ATM tech, I know there are thin films out there that stick to any screen and are connected via com port interface, other then physical attachment and drivers you need calibration software to define your screen edge's and accuracy
